Certified Nutrition Specialist, Chef

(she/her)

My name is Katie Henry, and I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist who uses a hands-on and collaborative approach in helping those find enjoyment and nourishment in all foods. Learning what one's body is asking for, confidently answering it, and understanding that the way in which one feels about—and how one’s body reacts to—food is individual, so your care should be, too!

What should you expect?

Working together means that I am here to help you understand the importance of nutrition, how nourishment can come from all foods, and how to feel the most confident in these choices and in your body.

Through educating you, we break the barriers of rules and confusion that have been put out there for years through endless diets and trends. Sessions may look like deep-diving into nutrients, creating reachable daily or weekly goals, unpacking years of rules and guilt that you may have given yourself, and always celebrating every win (no matter the size!) on the path to learning HOW to eat to live your most abundant life, not just WHAT to eat!

An added bonus - as a trained chef, mom, and someone that has gone through ED recovery, you’ll learn how the importance of enjoyment of food is just as crucial as the act of eating itself!

Fun Facts

  • I am a mom to a wild toddler boy (with another on the way), the loudest terrier you’ve ever met, with the most calm husband in the world - truly the best kind of chaos in this house!

  • My true reason for movement is a combination of being able to keep up with my little one as he races around our neighborhood as well as bringing me peace - whether that be strength training, yoga, exploring Georgia’s mountains, walking, long-distance running, playing tag or hide & seek with toddlers - I love it all!

  • Working in bakeries up and down the East Coast allowed my love for pastries to truly flourish, and I stand strong when I say the best croissant is at Little Tart here in Atlanta!

  • A true Mainer at heart, nothing beats a fresh lobster roll, the rocky coastline, whoopie pies, and our New England sarcasm!

FAQs

  • To get started, schedule your free 15-minute consultation call. During that call, you will let me know what led you to being interested in working together, what your goals are, and I will then share my beliefs and process around nutrition counseling!

  • During the initial session, we go over the intake forms you’ll receive prior to the session, diving in as much or as little as you feel comfortable with into your relationship with food. From there, we come up with a plan for both long-term and short-term goals! As these are safe and collaborative sessions, I find it important that the initial session is a bit longer than the follow-ups so that we can get to know one another and put together a plan with the pace that feels best for you!

  • This does vary from person to person! I do like to let clients know that it will be a minimum of 3-4 months working together, but it will all depend on level of commitment, how comfortable you are sharing your story and relationship with food as well as what the goals are that we create together. There are many clients that find comfort in regular follow-ups for a longer period of time as it can be a great means of support.

  • A CNS, or Certified Nutrition Specialist, is an advanced nutrition practitioner who practices and provides evidence-based personalized nutrition therapy. One must complete required education, clinical experience, board examinations, and continuing education. CNS’s often practice from the lens of both functional and integrative medicine, providing educational, evidence-based, and individualized plans for all clients.

  • Currently, I accept Aetna insurance.

For all other insurances, I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with a superbill for all sessions that you can submit to your out-of-network benefits for potential reimbursement.

Clients often are able to use their Health Savings Account to pay for sessions and/or receive out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance.

  • Find more information about my fees here.

  • I see clients starting at the age of 15. If family nutrition counseling is requested, then I will see all ages of children.

  • Yes, clients have the flexibility to choose in-person, virtual, or a hybrid model. If you are in the Atlanta area, I do prefer for initial nutrition sessions to be in person, but I can work with you on what fits best.

  • I do allow 1 missed session or late cancellation at no charge. After this first missed session or late cancellation, I do charge the full price for the session. Please give at least 24 hours notice if you cannot make a session.
